Puncture in a Vauxhall Zafira

Had a problem while heading home last night. Got a puncture in the off side rear tyre. Thought it would take 15 minutes tops to be back on the road but an hour and a quarter later we finally removed the spare wheel from under the car.
In the Zafira the spare is carried under the car held in place by a rack which is lowered by turning a bolt in the equipment tray, under the carpet in the back of the car. This was all straight forward but on some Zafira's there is a security bolt as well which holds the wheel in place, that was the problem. Still with some brute force we got it done.

Once the spare wheel was out it took only a few minutes to change and head for home.

Lost dog

While out walking my two labradors we were joined by a very friendly puppy. After a few moments I realised there was nobody with the dog. Usually when a dog goes astray there is someone shouting its name but nothing was heard. The pup got on really well with my dogs so we carried on to the car but still no sign of the owner. There was a tag on the collar of the lost dog with a mobile phone number, my mobile was at home on charge, so thought at least we could all go home in the car and phone from home. After a while walking up and down the road and speaking to another dog walker who had not come across anyone else while out we set off for home. The lost pup was easy to get in the car and got on ok with my dogs even when we got home to a drink of water and some biscuits. The owner was relieved to get the phone call and came and collected the pup. What an exciting morning.

Flatbed Scanning Negatives

Scanning negatives and slides on a flatbed scanner can be quite challenging. The cost of a dedicated scanner is way out my league so I was interested in reading this article on making a device for providing the light from above the strip of film. Samsung Europa

Recently spent a while researching current mobile phones to replace my outdated bar type phone. The criteria was     To have a method of posting to Twitter and Facebook     Camera, not necessary high spec     Email     Web browsing     GPS     Android system     Last but certainly not least the ability to make     phone calls and texts At the end of the search there was the Samsung Europa. Next thing was to find a network provider and went for Tesco Mobile, intending to use the Triple Credit PAYG. While buying the phone there was an offer of 500 mins, unlimited text and web for £10 per month on a rolling one month contract - so went for that.  Since getting the phone I have discovered a bug which repeats received text messages.
